Aye that's some pretty inspirational stuff, interesting to see hear how some of these clubs came about. Cycling out to the woods and doing some camping sounds right good!

I cycled down from Fort William to Balloch with Terry from the Glenmarnock Wheelers at the end of September. did it in around 7 hours with him. The weather was fuckin mental. The visability in Glencoe was terrible. The cross winds on Rannoch Moor must have had gusts up to 60mph. Three of us nearly got hit with a caravan. The rain was horizontal. I only had a windproof jacket and soaked to the skin. Felt like I had mild hypothermia by the end of the ride.

We came across a terrible head-on collission between a mini-bus and a car on the banks of Loch Lomond. The car's bonnet was knocked right up to the windscreen, the mini-bus was in a ditch and there was oil and petrol all over the road. There were loads of ambulances, fire-engines and the road was closed to drivers we were able to cycle right through.

It was the most challenging ride I've ever done but the most rewarding. Terry, Trefor and I were all trying to do roll-ups in the rain with shaky hands.
