I was cycling my Pista back in July I think it was now- and, the best way to describe it, was that my cog seemed to slip when I pulled out at junctions/roundabouts. I never thought anything of it until one day though, whilst climbing a hill, the cog totally stripped the thread of the hub. I don't know why it happened but it was pretty scary as a car was overtaking me at the time.

Anyway, handed the wheel into Evans cycles, who are going to replace it after Bianchi have looked at it. I gave them the wheel at the beginning of August, but the Bianchi factory was shut for the whole month - I gather its a 'Glasgow Fair' sort of idea though they take the whole month off! I got a call today from Evans who say it'll probably be the end of the month, though I'm going to take that to mean it'll be the middle of November before I get the wheel back.

So was wondering if anyone had a spare rear wheel which I could borrow (ideally)/buy (for cheap) until I get my wheel back? Been using the busses to get in and out of uni the past few weeks and apart from being really slow and frustrating its also bloody expensive.

Scary. What hub was/is it on the Pista? How long had you had it?

I'm guess this is to get it covered under warranty?

Possibly its just cheaper to get a new System Ex hub from Evans and have them rebuild the wheel using the existing rim?

it was the hub that came with the bike - had it just less than a year so it is covered by warrenty.

They will replace it, just being without the bike for the next month and a bit it rather annoying!

A month n a bit is fucking ridiculous. Did they offer to replace it with the System Ex hub to save you the wait?

Got a basic FlipFlop rear wheel - no cog or freewheel - kicking about the workshop if you want to borrow it for a bit. Its not doing much sitting here so you're welcome to it til you get yours sorted?

They put a free wheel on the other side but got the measurements wrong so the chain couldn't fit on, which was rather silly.

I have a cog so that could be put on the FlipFlop wheel, right? If that wouldn't be a problem that would be fantastic make-mine-a-tops! As I say it'll probably be about november when i can get it back to you.

No bother, you about tomorrow? Head into Behind Bars and it's all yours - ask for Matt.

Your freewheel should fit no problems, bring the bike in if you want and i'll fit it.

eek, I've read of companies squirming out of warranty claims on track bikes ridden on the road... fingers crossed
