Seen as the number of people riding has increased, I wondered what everyone's commute is like.
I am currently trying to up my weekly commute to 3 out of 5 days, from Crow rd shopping centre to Strathclyde.
Additionally, after reading this, I wondered if a riding buddy might be good to encourage people to get back into riding. I know it would work for me :D
my commute (yet to be done on anything than a shitty halfords bike) is from to dennistoun to merchant city all of 5 minutes infact i think it takes me longer to lock up the bike.

I commute from Pollokshields to Glasgow uni but I've recently been coming from Newlands (6 miles each way). This morning I had crashed at a friend's flat on Bank Street and so had a 1 minute commute by bike.
After too many years off the bike, I'm working up to the 19 mile commute from Bridge of Weir to the Gorbals. I should be doing it (one way per day at least) by the end of next week and hopefully both ways by mid Feb, weather permitting. I've been quite enjoying the work up to it over the last month or so....
i either commute from Shawlands to kelvinbridge or, to Ruchill and sometimes Cartyne - a real mixture
Dennistoun to town centre and back. I usually extend the route home out further east when the weather's not bad and I've not got anything on.
Yorkhill to Town everyday, rain or shine...
Maryhill or Kelvindale to Gordon Street and back 5 days a week. I'll probably be moving at some point this year so I'll hopefully get a better distance in.

What route are you going to be taking? I'm from Bridge of Weir originally myself.
My commute is about 8 miles/12 if I go along the canal. I usually do it 5 days a week. I had coped with the weather until Tuesday last week when a lot of the paths I take had thawed and re-frozen creating ice rink conditions so I've just had a week off the bike.
Aye I commute every day. About 5 miles each way.
0.5 miles every single day. That's, like, almost a mile.
About 8 miles each way (various routes) From Lenzie to city centre. Normally 4-5 days a week but has been sporadic in the last few weeks due to the weather.
started commuting again in Jan, and after my crash that put me out of action for a few months.. i realised how nuts some parts of town is for rush hour commuting!!
drivers before 9am are so tired and arent concentrating, really need to keep wits about you!
2miles each way for me, its fun to race the bus to my work.
3.5 miles each way, Bearsden to Drumchapel. Downhill all the way there, uphill all the way back.
Bit of a fairweather commuter though.
twosevens, do you head up peel glen road? there is a cracking climb on that road :)
3.5 miles each way. Queens Park <-> Maryhill
Would have thought that was more than that.
Glasgow Green to Ibrox each day. about 3.5 miles.
Tend to vary my route, sometimes along the clydeside and over the squinty bridge way, and sometimes along by the gorbals sports centre/paisley road. Either way, potholes are a nightmare at the moment! Not been out much since middle of December, just a few days.
giffnock to parkhead 7.5 miles 5 days a week rain or shine. 1 week off when roads were properly frozen.
Netherlee to City Centre (4.7miles)
did it every day last year...then packed it in just before Christmas due to old Stainless rims not braking in the rain...Today I have my new wheels and will be restarting the commute this week.

Out. Thru Houston, Georgetown Rd, down through Bishopton, Braehead, Govan Road to Kinning Park and the Gorbals.
Home. Paisley Road to Elderslie then down through Johnstone and the cycle track to Quarriers. Or a variation depending on how I'm feeling and what the light is like later in the year.

Its a fair journey there and back, kudos if you do it 3 days a week nevermind 5!
I used to get a good 5.5 mile commute from polloksheilds to scotstoun when I worked nightshift (magic riding home!) but these days I don't have the option :(
West end to Coatbridge, not fixed mind.
! That's mighty, I get fed up driving to Coatbridge every day... Mind you it's utterly mind numbing on the motorway.
trailstar:twosevens, do you head up peel glen road? there is a cracking climb on that road :)
It is a good climb, but not a good route at 5.45 on a week night unfortunately.

Yeah I hate the drive. At rush hour it's about the same time cycling vs. driving. To be honest the cycling gets pretty boring after a while also, although a day driving soon makes me see the light.

We'll see how it pans out. I've sorted a shower at work which will help but I need to drop my daughter off 2 mornings so that gives me an excuse to drive.
Good thing is it's fairly flat all the way once you get to Houston on the way out. I'm looking forward to the run, just not the knobs in cars.
+1
Battlefield - Spiersbridge (about 3 miles I think)
Down Auldhouse road/thornliebank road...potholes/cracks are terrible, but if you can avoid them it is a fun 10/15 minute commute...up and down and up and down...Floods really bad during 'the rains' though.
Kelvingrove Park to West George Street.
Not very far, but doing it circa 6am a couple of times over the last fortnight has made it seem like more than enough.
I jjust commuted back fromt he pub and now I'm wet :(
My ride home is Kelvingrove (round the corner from the Big Slope) to Scotstoun (Bank of Scotland Dumbarton Road) 2.95 miles best time:9m26s fixed:45/16
More stats!!!!! i need stats
Haha. Best time for Paisley Road West to Alexandra Parade 17 minutes. Being late for work is a true test.
Partick to Govan: Dumbarton Road, Argyll St to Finneston, Squinty Bridge. 2 and a bit miles?. Once the sun stays out past 7 I'l work out some longer routes home, up towards Port Dundas then back via Springburn/Balmore Road
used to be partick/govan. They finished the 2 tunnels yet?
Crisdufy:used to be partick/govan. They finished the 2 tunnels yet?
The Clyde tunnel?

They put an entry system onto the southbound tunnel and replaced all the lights. The northbound tunnel is still the same as before afaik
