Sweet. I'm tempted to get one in Summer. Not sure if I should get a Macbook or a Macbook Pro. When they came out I convinced myself that I needed Firewire 800 but have since convinced myself that I don't need any form of Firewire at all.
I'm going to back up using time machine through a USB drive connected to an Airport Extreme so don't need FW800 for that.
I'm going to get photos off CF cards with a £4 Hama 35-in-1 card reader, which happens to be one of the fastest USB 2.0 card reader you can buy, instead of splurging £50 on a Lexar FW800 reader.
well, nothing has arrived today but i have recently taken delivery of some shiny new bits......a full campagnolo record pista gruppo, brooks swallow, bar tape and toe straps, some nitto and mks bits and paul from bob jackson has just called to let me know that my sexy vigorelli frame and forks are ready!
yeeeee-haa!
hubs, headset, bottom bracket, cranks/chainring.
i've heard some people say they're not so good for riding on the street but it's my "sunday and it's NOT raining or going to rain" bike and, after doing some digging and forum lurking, the people i've found who run them on the street don't seem to have any problems - or they're not admitting to any!
if i do destroy them, i'll have to re-think and i'll be annoyed but i'm pretty sure they'll be fine...............
the only things i need now are rims, spokes, a seatpost and a lock ring and i'm good to start building it up.

Open Pro, DT Swiss Competition, Campagnolo Record, Phil Wood. Done.
that sir, is my exact thought on the matter.
the only trouble i'm having is locating a campag record (aero) post that isn't getting bid up to silly amounts of flea-bay.
[quote][cite] rusty:[/cite][quote][cite] Cuppa T:[/cite]this morning arrived a - MACBOOK PRO
Did you get someone to hook you up with a student discount?
i didn't buy it brand new, its second hand and around 7 months old.
still beautiful though.
Johnny: i had a look at the DT swiss rims in person the other day, they are very nice, the shop sold them for 55 a rim though which is dear!
Not so much in the post but today i got paid from my job ( and it was a GOOD wage!) got my student loan payment and got £250 dropped into my paypal for an ebay sale.
Plus in town today i got a pair of jeans for £3.
Non-cycling related, but I just picked up Circle "Pori" from the sorting office - one of the early out of print Circle albums (hurrah for eBay). I'm guessing this won't mean much to most, but it's rocking my world already.
mechanical_vandal, jeans for £3, that's even cheaper than Primark, surely?!
It actually was primark, they were reduced to £4 and i blagged another quid off coz the only pair in my size didn't have the shitty tacky plastic belt.
here's my frame!
i got sent this today - yay (along witha phonecall asking for payment - boo)it's built and ready, i just have to wait until i get home then they'll send it out. it's fitted up with record headset and bottom bracket:
Very nice. What's your plans for it johnny?
This morning I received:
1. A well-travelled but apparently working BB for the Armstrong thanks to a kind soul on londonfgss for nowt more than postage costs.
2. A bunch of rechargeable batteries and a charger from Vapextech, to keep my lights going strong through the winter.
my plans are to attach allt he bits that are up there^^^^ somewhere then to be too scared to ride it in case it gets dirty.
That Bob Jackson looks the tits! No graphics though?
I got these through the door this week. I have quite a bad Oakley problem. Its ironic how many pairs I have considering the dire weather in this bit of the world.
They are Retina Burn Fire Iridium, I have been after them for a while now. All I need is a sunny day haha!
it's my tax-rebate bike :-)
[quote][cite] Merak:[/cite]That Bob Jackson looks the tits! No graphics though?
cheers. i wanted it to look clean and fairly minimalist so i asked for no transfers apart from the crest on the head-tube and no lug-lining. i got the forks chromed though to make it a little bit fancy. i'm looking forward to seeing it in the metal.
those glasses look awesome. my head is too small to wear cool sunnies. i have to either get kids or ladies ones. boo.
the prices are on the website i think so i'm not bothered about sharing:
the frame and forks were £345 pounds and the chroming a further £85.
included in the basic price are a choice of transfers, what type of steerer tube you'd like, mudguard eyelets if you want them and luglining.
that's what i think. i'm spending the money on it now whilst i'm single and nobody can tell me off and i'm planning on riding it well into my old age. other bikes will undoubtedly come and go but i don't plan on parting with this one.
@ rusty - the steel is reynolds 631.
PICTURES!!!!
i have some bits:

Musta felt like xmas come early Johnny!
Is that an EAI wallet?
[quote][cite] rusty:[/cite][quote][cite] mechanical_vandal:[/cite]Is that an EAI wallet?
Probably with an EAI cog in it.
rusty is clued like the sherlock.
I have one of those.
And its not even on the bike, it's siting in the toolbox!
i've just messed.
i might like njs a wee bit more than i admit to........
