euan:I had no real problems in the show yesterday. Good test for the GP4000 I've got on the rear now as well.
I only had confidence problems really. I was cycling out to my parents house which is a bit further out than I usually go. Their road had only one set of tyre marks on it when I got there.
its absolutely baltic this morning and some of the side streets are extremely slippy. take care.
Yeah I was cycling home at about 3am and I noticed the streets were starting to get a good bit icey.
My shorts were out in force today. Bring it on!
So, a wee bit of the white stuff made it our way. Let the mayhem commence!
Watch out this morning. My thermometer has hit -5°C - the coldest I've seen yet.
Best Gloves to get: 99p Magic Gloves from any corner shop. Stick them under your mitts - IDEAL!!!
My beard froze this morning. I'm scared about going home if it's still icy.

This could be useful.
Looks like the snow, as predicted by euan, isn't very good at its time keeping, though it's here now, about 4 hours late.
euan:3rd March 2009
BBC Weather says heavy snow for 6pm
sunny as fuck tomorrow like.......
Shut it! You non-working bastard! Do a couple of miles for me will you?
I've got sunburn from yesterday......
It's even nicer (but a little windier) here today already!

I'm sweating already and I've not left the house yet.
Aye I've just got up, would have stayed in bed longer but it was roasting. I'm bringing sun screen.

gies a lend....
Amazing how quiet it is on here when the weather's nice. It's a good sign.
I got a few nice miles after work and it was still glorious. Wondering if I'll be feeling the burn tomorrow even from the evening sun...
At least 7 members were in Edinburgh :)
Ahhhh, glorious Glasgow. Riding home is going to be interesting for sure.
You know when you get so wet it doesn't matter? I quite enjoyed that. I'd left the house in shorts and a t-shirt.

my ride home is gonna be that. get soaked in a few seconds then go for a long ride in the pishin wet. sweet. then home and off to asda for pizza and ciders.
Aye same here. Except I don't have the car to go to Asda.
i love thunder and lighting.
..very, very frightening...

It's nice. I'm now swaddled in towels and a dressing gown with tea and toast watching it out of the window. Guess it might fuck with the SMRC though.

weather wise tis more of the same for the weekend i think. cant see much riding getting done :(
Tonight was my fastests home this week because it was just that bit cooler.
I got soaked but I was going to the pub so it was all good in the end...
Wee bit wet tonight, so it was. What larks.
A lovely 35 miles round the glen in the midst of that horror show this afternoon! In shorts to boot. Still, the shower when I got back was one of the best I've ever had.
Puddles, buses, cycling, no need for a shower tonight..
Race Blades might not look too nice, but they definitely work.
No shit stripe on my bag!

They're not that fantastic. My seat tube is all spattered with mud and my legs get wet. I'm thinking of putting on some full mudguards at some point. I just hope my clearances are big enough. If not, maybe it's time for a new frame.
See I get my seat tube fucked up, but my legs seem fine. And no wet ass is the priority.
tonight eveything gets wet, mudguards or no mudguards.
got a flat going through the gorbals too. typical.
euan:See I get my seat tube fucked up, but my legs seem fine. And no wet ass is the priority.
Because I've had no wet ass for over a year now, I've started to get irritated by other things. Wet feet is a particularly bad one when it's raining hard and there's a lot of water on the ground. The water just pours out of the bottom of the front mudguard. I think a duct tape mud flap will be bodged at the weekend.

My newly fitted (this morning, a fucking nightmare getting them attached to the forks on my Charge Plug) race blades seem pretty good so far. My frame is far less minging than usual and my legs are a fair bit dryer.
Did you adjust them thoroughly?
US Army double-thickness-in-the-ass-area Goretex trousers, and I have a brown bag so shit stripes are invisible :)
Still get wet feet though... that's putting me off sticking on the gurney straps because I'd rather not get soaking wet feet in the shoes I wear to walk around.

Have you tried those out yet? I've been thinking of getting some but would like to hear from someone who's tried them. Not that there is much chance of me getting any for a while, they seem to be pretty quick to sell out. Might go for the hold fast straps instead due to availability, think the gurney ones are easier to adjust though.
libation:Did you adjust them thoroughly?
Oh yeah. I've adjusted and re-adjusted many times. There's nothing wrong with the area they cover. I would just like areas they don't cover to be covered now.
Crud RoadRacer mudguards far far > than SKS RaceBlades.
Easier to fit, adjust & provide far more frame coverage/protection.

No doubt, but unfortunately they've not seen fit to produce a model for wider tyres.
Its going to get wet over the next two days I believe

I'm hating this right now. Yesterday I was looking through a thread from the summer where we were all talking about how hot it was and that we were getting sweat patches after 2 minutes on the bike. I'd love a bit of that right now.
See I don't mind the rain too much. Its just the constant cleaning of my front wheel rim to get the brake gunk off. Even though Swissstop Greens are meant to be non abrasive I've still getting a lot of grey gunk from the alu.

You needz brakless!
But on a more serious note, I'm looking at making a disc mount up and brazing it onto a track fork now that I have a sort of spare one. Need to get hold of an old hope xc4 with the tiny rotor or maybe a formula b4 to keep the stresses on the fork leg down.

Not put them on the bike yet, I have reservations about whether they will be big enough for my fat feet. James (islipaway) has some on his polo bike I think? Look like they'll be good though.
