believe it or not its a pista! Chrome shot blasted then powder coated matt pink!

All the awful gold gubbins stripped then powder coated by some dodgy dude up the back of Maryhill.

I want to bring my bike but I haven't really looked into how much it would cost or if its even worth it just thought it would be sweet to have a bike to roll around town

    Do you guys have rides?

Oh and here’s my beater bike

    icecream,

whereabouts in maryhill, when I was last in gear Joe mentioned the guy. Chipped some (more) of my paint after my key snapped in my mini u-lock, then broke my car jack trying to force it haha. No-one batted an eyelid when I appeared with a fuck off generator and an angle grinder. If only kryptonite made keys as well as they make locks........

    Cheers
    Andy

Cuppa T:how much did he charge you?

Frame was painted by someone else but Allmet charged £30.00 to strip & paint the Chainring, Crank arms, Stem & Seatpost with clamps etc!

    Pretty reasonable I thought!

    They got various colours aparently.

    Hello all.
I was surprised and very pleased to discover that there's a fg/ss community up and running here in Glasgow, without my ever realising it. Thanks to my poster-delivering friend for passing on the link.
I'm relatively new to the 1-speed world, having had my long-suffering Dawes Discovery 501 converted to singlespeed just a few months ago, but absolutely love the change - it was a whole new lease of cycling life, for both the bike and myself. My next step is hopefully into the world of fixed gear, if all goes according to long gestating plans. I can generally be found shuttling between town and the east end (dennistoun, haghill, tollcross, uddingston, coatbridge and the like), with occasional forays up west to maryhill way and beyond.
No pictures at the moment, I'm afraid. The bike is in a shocking state, as ever, so it would be shameful to parade it as is.

    Hi,
Been lurking on here for a bit and hoping for some developments on your planned track day in our capital.

I've only been riding fixed for three months since being relieved of my old mountain bike but I'd love to have a bash on the track.

Currently riding an Ironhorse Transit on 38/13 and loving every minute.

I commute daily from Paisley to Glasgow and see plenty of fixed riders along the Govan Road.

With a bit of luck I'll get to see some of you at some point.

    George

What time are you on Govan Road Euan?

I am usually city bound between half seven and ten and back to Paisley between half six and nine, and always into a headwind for some reason.

I don't think I've ever cycled in Glasgow with the wind at my back.

Govan Road usually between 7 and 9 depending on my shift. Evening between 5 and half 6 I guess.

Being late for work. The greatest training too.

I followed a guy on a singlespeed Fuji track this morning over the squinty bridge before taking him at the peak.

Still don't know how much faster I really am compared to most riders. But lycra clad riders are a challenge I like to take on.

I'm not quick enough to be racing just glad to beat the clock.

Find myself hitting the snooze more often right enough knowing I can push on a bit if I really need to.

Paisley Road is a bit like wacky races in the morning though, so I get the feeling a fall is not far off.

i have probly got one of the cheapest bikes at £10 but i worked on it for a while, got it all running then converted to single speed which i managed for free so the bike total still stands at £10 . Newest change has been new tyres and i went for smaller ,bmx styled brake leavers.

Been building a new hack bike for a while and finally completed it. It’s an old Ribble 531 frame. Don’t know how old but there are hardly any braze-ons on it. I am considering some serious puppy killing on this one. I’ve bought some track ends and some Mapp gas, all I need now are the brazing rods and flux, I’ll try and document it when I do it but it’ll not be for another couple of months.

It’s a winter bike so to comply with the Law I’ve got all the legally required lights and reflectors. In addition to this as my commute can involve the canal and/or country roads I’ve got a ‘ghetto halogen’ up front. MR16 bulb housed in some plumbing fittings wired to 10 x 1.2V NiMh rechargeable batteries concealed in an Eon bottle. Gone for the ghetto paint job too. Hand painted with Hammerite by my 7 year old son and me.

Anyway had it out for the first time today. Still trying to perfect the brake positioning so I’ve not tapped the bars yet.

I got another fixed recently too.

Long story, but true. Recently my car broke down so I phoned a guy who lives in my village (who is incidentally an ex-messenger) who kindly came to give me a tow. I noticed there was an old ‘60s or ‘70s Raleigh steel fixed wheel bike in his boot. He told me he was going to take it to a charity shop and said I could have it if I wanted it. Guess what, I wanted it and now I have it.
