[quote][cite] krakow:[/cite]For £25 I'm tempted. Sounds like a bargain almost regardless of what it is actually like.
i actually emailed, prob just for the saddle alone but sadly its sold all ready...
Also, quite a nice solid-specced sounding Surly Steamroller for £450, size 56cm:

its my size too. could be a wee project for me.
[quote][cite] Getafix:[/cite]Looks like the bottom braket has been striped and there is a threaded insert.
true - might just give this a miss. really want to get my hands on a flying scot tho.
Billy Bilsland Cycles has a couple of Flying Scot frames (I think two, perhaps just the one though) hanging up in the shop. I can't recall the size, but I'll check next time I'm in. They've been resprayed & refurbished and I believe they'll be looking for proper money for them.
Theres quite a few shops in Glasgow with Flying Scots hanging around but their not usually for sale. "Rainy day" or sumthin like that.
Clarkston Cycle Centre has a couple of road frames and a track frame. When i asked the owner why he had them hanging and not in use he told me he already had "a few" built and in occasional use.

I noticed a rather beautiful deep green one in there before christmas...
You live out that way?
Yeah, bit further out of town in Newton Mearns.

Fabric Horse Lock Holster
Shit. I really want one of those as well. Too late.
They're not particularly expensive straight from the source. I wonder if there's ever been a UK group buy?
Urban Hunter have them in the UK...
Don't worry, just blethering to myself, sure you were already aware of all this from the lfgss forum that I was only just reading.

I've bought a couple of frames on e-bay for about £50-£60 including postage. I would consider them both to be better than that and with sensible (not French) threads. One was an '80s 531 Ribble, and one was a n early '90sTrue Temper chro-mo Schwinn Paramount.
If you keep your eyes peeled you can often buy a complete 531 eighties road bike for about £100.
Seriously nice Condor on e-bay at the moment for a good price. BIN is £550 (IIRC these are £1300 new) and it's had next to no use:
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=190279706318
can someone please buy it so i'm not tempted - i don't need another track bike!
If i didn't already have a dedicated track bike that i'm not using, i'd have bought it by now..........i don't want to upset my poor dolan though.
if you found an amazin frame on ebay but it had this on the listing -
The only other minor problem is that the adjusters on the rear drop outs, one missing, one snapped.
would you pursue it, could you get away without them?
[quote][cite] Getafix:[/cite]Yep, both my e-bay buys have had rusted in adjusters just snap them off.
That Mercian looks nice enough although a frame of that vintage will be built for 27" wheels so will have pretty slack clearances.
you mean this mercian -

its more of a back up i have my eye on something else finishing tomorrow.
[quote][cite] euan:[/cite]I just don't get it.
its for stupid c**** in LDN to prance about on.
[quote][cite] euan:[/cite]I just don't get it.
i like it. i'd love a pursuit frame like that..........it could be better built though.
Bridgestone keirin frame in Edinburgh. What you bid is what you pay.
I was reluctant to post it up as it's my size (kind of) but then I remembered. I have no money to be buying keirin frames.
edit: It's also a Bridgestone frame (the bottom of the pile for NJS frames).
[quote][cite] euan:[/cite]Yeah I spied it on my searches as well. Smaller than my Mercian frame but I would probably get a 50cm frame these days.
Bottom bracket is worth about £50 and the headset £70 though.
Good point. I never really think about that when drooling over NJS frames. They're not really all that expensive when you factor that in (provided you were choosing to use NJS headset and bottom-bracket).
Bontranger wheel set anyone?
