That's a question worthy of Parky, CA. Totally innocuous at first glance while leaving me ample opportunity to get myself in bother with the moral majority. :-)

Honestly, I didn't know what I was going to do even as I handed over the cash. Riding it seemed like a good idea before making a decision. I was trying to stay open-minded cos it's hard to deny that stripping the gears off a bike in perfectly good nick is a bit of a shame. The guy I bought it from went to a lot of trouble acquiring parts. I didn't want to undo all his efforts without some thought.

Now I've ridden the bike, yeah, I probably will go for a conversion. Gear shifting is awkward. Push the lever too far and the chain drops off. I've already got a road bike with integrated shifters. Sure, it's nowhere near as nice as the Scot, but it's a lot easier to use. Shimano Sora beats vintage Campag Record, I'm afraid. If I leave the Scot the way it is, it won't get ridden. I'll always take the Specialized when I want a road bike and that'd be a shame, too.

So...the idea is to convert and ride the Scot as often as possible - no' just on sunny summer days. That's why I opted for such a bizarre colour. Yellow doesn't make me go all weak at the knees, so hopefully I'll no' be scared to use the bike.

good stuff, i would personally have no problem converting it but am sure others would have fit at the thought of it. look forward to seeing it out and about. it'll be even easier to spot you on it.

That's a bargain. I reckon you could make your money back on that if you bought the bike kept the wheels and sold the rest.

From reading the advert, it sounds to me like he's only selling the rear wheel.

They can sometimes look okay on someroad bikes (a TT bike for example) but never a track bike.

  15.  quote

Well yes they have to be done right. The wishbone seat stays on Trek MBT's make me feel a little ill, but them maybe thats because i have to look at them all day long....
