I'm sorry that I've not been making it along for quite some time. I have an ongoing commitment now which finishes at 6pm in the East End on Tuesdays, but I'd really like to get back involved and get evening rides up and running a bit more than they have been of late.

If people are willing to meet me in town, or to wait till I can make it up to the West End (maybe 6:30pm at the latest), then that would be great, and I'll make more of an effort to come along.

I think it would be very good to get things going regularly again now that the universities etc. are starting back, so that we can try and encourage some new faces to join up and come along.

I'll be trying to think of some routes that we can do, because the best nights we've had in my opinion are the ones where we've had a wee bit more of an aim in mind or at least have had someone with a route in mind that can lead things on a bit. We're definitely suceptible to faffing, which is fair enough some of the time, but can be a bit disappointing if it ends up without us doing a particularly interesting ride.

    What does anyone else think?

Seriously; ride suggestions welcome. East End bandit country is my stomping ground?

I can be at Big Slope by 6:30pm if folks are willing to wait. If you'd rather, we could have a subsiduary meet at Buchanan Galleries Sainsburys about 6:15pm onwards. Let me know.

a while back rabsda post the bridges route, gives us a route and a map straight away. I never went on it so could give that a shout. I dont mind hanging on a wee bit for people to turn up or the meeting point (for this route best for big slope). so yeah i can hang on krakow.

rabsda:anyone up for a ride tomorrow?

I want to do this: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Clyde-Bridges

About a 15 mile route from the Big Slope and back again.

It will take us zig-zaging across all of the Clyde Bridges between the SECC and Cambuslang and then back along the quick and flat London Road.
Quite a scenic route following the national cycle network path for a large chunk of it. Anyone else up for it?

(I got the idea from the london forum "bridges" ride, would be cool to do a big ride at somepoint covering more of them)

bigsmee, slint & I took a wee jaunt up round Maryhill & Anniesland - it was a pretty steady fine rain, but nothing untoward until we split and headed for home. Hopefully this is us easing in to getting Fixed Beer up and running again.

Nice to meet you slint! Assure your friend that he's most definitely welcome. FG or SS is preferred, but we'll let gears sneak by most of the time!

I will be down in London next Tuesday, but will be back up and running after that.

Great to meet you guys too, i only wish i hadn't sunk 3 pints before you showed up. That and 85 GI plus my first full day running fixed made the evening interesting. Thanks for your patience (Bigsmee and Krakow) although, i don't think i embarrassed myself too much.

Looking forward to the next and i shall leave the beers till after.

    Thanks again

It's steep, muddy, gravelly, rough and home to a large portion of Glasgow's homeless, drug addict etc population.

Well boys... The mighty Slint is training me up since we met yesterday. I haven't had a bike since i was 8 years old...and still don't(!), but slint has been kind enough to let me use his old stick-shift! So, done about 6 miles today and will be endeavouring to pass muster over the coming weeks.

See you at the pub again soon.

Two girls commited suicide from the bridge at the weekend, the road was closed for a bit and i think the pedestrian/bike section is completely closed as its full of police cars and flowers etc.

you might wanna investigate that first
