There are a few other things which Euan is planning to announce on the night, which are designed to keep it fair and interesting, that he won't tell anyone about...

I have my route sorted now, I also have some backup plans should anyone decide to follow me.. :)

There are enough prizes to have 3 prizes at least: a 1st, 2nd and an out of towner

Yeah, there are an absolute ton of prizes. I think Joe at Gear has given us over £100 of prizes in addition to what we had already.

plurabelle:Sounds brilliant, and the flyer looks great. I'm like conn artist, a wee bit trepidatious about the sprints/alleyc*ts, but who knows, by then I might not be. I'd love to do the loch lomond anyway, and my bike should be sorted by then. Yay.

we can be wimps together plurabelle. i will need to practice hard for the next month as it would be like a lamb to the slaughter going up against some of the more experianced riders.

i'd be up for coming along to get the crack like plurabelle and conn artist... My fixed skills aren't nearly there yet... I could take the camera too for pics...

The only thing you can't really spectate at is the alleycat but we would quite like volunteers for helping out with it [whisper euan about it]. The sprint will be in one place with a big group of people spectating, the hill climb could just be a leisurely ride for those who don't want to compete and the Sunday ride is an all-inclusive leisure-fest.

So how is the Clockwork race going to work ? So will there be someone at each station with a stamp then ? You'll need a few volunteers then.

rabsda has it all planned out and it doesn't involve too many volunteers.

    Clockwork orange race details:

    You will need a pen.
You should bring a pump and tire spanners and appropriate tools to change a tube, although if you don't there will be a set available to share.
You won't need a lock or a bag for the race.

Only a couple of the stops will be manned.

The race starts from Blythswood Square, the method of the start will be decided based on the number of entrants.
Riders can take any route and can hit the stations in any order.
    Riders must visit every station.
Each rider will have a manifest (sheet of paper) with a space for each station on it.
At each station there will be something that you have to write on the sheet.
At the manned stations you will need to get your sheet signed.
At one of the manned stations you will be asked to perform a task in order to get a signature. (removing and reinstalling your inner tube)
The finish is at Blythswood Square, to finish the race you must hand your manifest to the marshal.
Manifests will be marked with a finish time by the marshal.

If you miss any of the stations, get any of the things on the sheet wrong, or have cheated* then you will be disqualified.

*Cheating would include: using a motor or engine, not visiting a station but copying from someone else, sabotaging other competitors shit.... etc

If you do not wish to remove your inner tube there will be a time penalty applied to your time. I've yet to determine the time. Possibly however long it takes me to change an inner tube doubled.

Cool, thanks for the option for the weak amongst us. I've got no pretentions on a high-placing finish, but it would be good to avoid a technical disqualification and so at least officially finish.

I think the front tube would be better. You don't want to get a load of people stuck messing with rear tyres/chains and after all it is a race and it would be better concentrating on route/speed tactics, most people should be able to change a (non puntured) tube in 2-5 minutes.

Aye. It'll be the front to avoid the tensioning issues. Though to be honest, you should be able to sort that out pretty quickly and is another good test.

Me, rabsda and rusty found a new venue for the sprints, its actually a lot better than the SECC. Me and rabsda then went and invented another form of racing.

It was more a sprint than pursuit. Rolling start then as fast as you can go around the track without touching the bars. DQ if you do, though I had to because of the wind at one point. If I didn't I would have clattered into rabsda.

A pursuit would be safer it would be harder to get people going at the same time.

dunno which i prefer, probably the cog because it more closely echoes his makeup. I added the number to his hat for peoples finishing position in the race.

Anyway is there a time for the Gardner St hill climb tt as me and a mate were thinking about watching. Might have a go myself if I am fully recovered from a injury.

we are meeting at george square about 11am so by the time we ride to the clyde tunnel and to gardner street it will probably be somewhere between then and 12. You'd probably be best coming along for the ride or just hang about...
