It's a Coventry Eagle. They've got fantastic headbadges - much more sticky-outy and sculpted than your normal offerings.

I've got a badge, but no' a bike to go with it. Maybe if I start midgie-raking...

Oh, I have finally walked across town with the frame and have just mocked it up with a set of 27" wheels that I also found,and before someone points it out yes, they are both fronts! .......... I am now in love with this bike. I now want to get a nice beaten up old leather saddle and a massive can of brasso! more P0rN -->

The frame has been rattle canned by the looks of it, and on the seat tube I can read "EXEMPLAR" . A quick Google search comes up with this document by a chap who owns one of these bikes.... his father bought his in 1954!! :0

That's the JIS logo.

Ahh, (quick google to find out what JIS is) I was wondering, cause I had seen somewhere that Sunshine had made NJS hubs, but I couldnt decypher the logo on the hub. Ive heard of variations of the logo, and wasnt sure about this. Ta.

The Old ladies bike I was riding on has donated me the non drive side bottom bracket bearings and the cup (?) that holds them in place as the original one was missing, but the lockring (again, excuse my ignorance of proper technical terminology) was in place. Odd. Ok, so far,I think that the bike is all there bar a chain and correct sized rear wheel.I have a 26andabit inches wheel (from Old ladies shopper death trap) that has a Sturmey Archer 3 speed hub that I might have laced up to one of the rims I have that is the correct size. Dont worry, the bit on the hub that the cable attaches to is missing (but replaceable! :D ), so it will still be single speed! Ive found/acquired all the parts and fitted them, just to make sure Im going to be working on a whole bike. And now, its all coming apart again. Every little bit. Im kinda swaying on the paint. I think its been spray canned, cause the decals on the seat tube look as they are under the maroon paint. So will I or wont I ? What colour? Or just treat the rust on the edges of the lugs, and clear coat it to protect the ratty-ness of the current 'do, and just shine it...

I like the idea of arresting the corrosion then clearcoating it to preserve the patina.

It looks like a really nice bike!
