The lack of a game at Linwood was down to me so apologies for the wasted journey. I'd said I'd book it but never got round to it and was offline for a couple of weeks so didn't know anyone would be turning up. I'm hoping to get a block booking in place tomorrow & will let you know how I get on with that.

Hey Pat welcome and thanks for getting in touch. We try and play at least once a week but it doesn't always happen, we played tonight but not planning on playing Thursday so I think a few of us could maybe make it on Friday, let us know if you book it.

Game definitely on at Linwood Sports Centre at 6.30 (till 7.30) on Friday 13th. Block booking in place from now until the end of March. Everyone's welcome to come along any week. We'll have spare mallets and should be able to provide some bikes if we get a bit of advanced warning or you can bring your own if you want.
Games aren't too competitive and allowances are always made for beginners for as long as it takes them to get the hang of the rules, pitch, etc. It's more about fun than anything else.
Hope to see some of you there at least occasionally.

Hi Derek, it was great that you made it last night (and didn't leave when nobody had turned up by half six!).
In previous years we've been able to run beyond our time as nobody had the pitch after us so we've got into the habit of turning up late, starting late and finishing late. This year there is a football team due on at half seven so we'll have to get our act together and try to be there sharp. If we aim to get there at about 6.15 then hopefully we can get a bit of a warm up/shooting practice before we start.
Look forward to more of you guys joining in.
Next Friday will be on barring really high winds or a frozen pitch.

Aye, checked my phone tonight.
I fired down last week after sprinting home from work to get the car and polo bike. When I got there and there was no one about and the floodlights weren't on I checked my phone to find two messages, one from you and one from Pat. All I can say is frozen pitch my arse. The grass next to the pitch was soft and squelchy and certainly not frozen. I guess the sport centre are being better safe than sorry.
Guess playing on a waterlogged pitch might damage it too?
Game on tomorrow 6.15 at Linwood. I wasn't happy about the two games called off before the big freeze through 'frost'. Both times it was well above freezing but the sports centre called us to say it was frozen. In previous years we have played on the pitch when it has been icy and we've never had a game called off due to rain.
Had my suspicions that they had double booked and just didn't want us turning up but I guess not if the lights weren't on. A wee bit strange all round.

Everyone's welcome including absolute beginners. You don't need a bike or a mallet but shin pads can be a good idea - you might go a year without a bump on the shin but better safe than sorry.
